The question to ask before you automate a workflow

In AX consulting and automation projects, we hear the same request often: "Can you automate this thing we keep doing in a spreadsheet?" But once we actually look, the problem usually isn't the tool — it's why that task is still running through a person's hands in the first place.

Building HeySeorak taught us a principle: before showing one more piece of information, you have to see where the drop-off happens. Enterprise workflow automation isn't any different. Before adding a tool, you first have to see where and why the repetitive task actually gets stuck.

That's why our AX consulting doesn't start by picking an automation tool. We audit how work really flows and map where AI pays off first. Get the priority wrong, and even the most polished pipeline speeds up the wrong thing while the most exhausting task stays exactly where it was.

mindtouch has run every one of its own ventures by connecting planning, building, and operating in one person, end to end. What that experience confirmed is that automation isn't about overhauling an entire system at once — it's about touching the single most repetitive, most exhausting task first. Starting small is how you actually confirm it works.

That's why we don't stop at lectures. We set priority through diagnosis (consulting), build the automation pipeline on top of that priority, and stay on site until it's actually running. Not selling a tool — confirming that the work itself got smaller.
